Patrice Motsepe, President of the African Football Confederation, revealed the fate of Egypt's request to increase the number of clubs in the African Champions League tournament.
Motsepe said in a press conference: "If we receive any request, we consider it and study it, and this is what we did with Egypt's request to increase the number of clubs in the African Champions League."
He added, "Decisions of this kind must be taken by the Supreme Committee of the African Football Confederation, which is studying this file."
He continued, "I love Al Ahly, Zamalek, Pyramids, and Wydad, and I love all the African teams on the continent."
He continued, "The winner of the African Women's Nations Cup will receive a cash prize of 2 million dollars."
He concluded his statements, "We support the Somali referee Omar Abdel Qader Artan, as he is the best referee on the continent, and what happened to him in America is related to the sovereignty of states."
Egypt had submitted a request to CAF to increase the number of participating clubs in the African Champions League and the Confederation Cup.
A statement from the Egyptian Football Association revealed, "The share of some federations may rise, according to the applicable classification criteria, to 3 clubs in the African Champions League, and 3 clubs in the African Confederation Cup, provided that the participation of the additional clubs begins from the preliminary rounds."
