Egyptian international Mostafa Ziko, a Pyramids FC player, revealed the reason for his recent absence from participating with the team in the Egyptian Premier League, confirming that the team's goal this season is to bring the African Champions title back to the trophy cabinet of the Sky Blues.

Pyramids FC is preparing to face Kenya's Gor Mahia tomorrow, Sunday, in the first leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary round.
Ziko stated via the Pyramids FC media center regarding the reason for his recent absence: "I had a minor knee injury, and praise be to God, I am now in better condition. I have recently joined group training sessions, and I will return to the pitch in the upcoming match against El Gouna in the Egyptian Premier League."
Mostafa Ziko has not participated in any match with Pyramids FC since the beginning of the current Egyptian Premier League season.
Regarding the Gor Mahia match, he said: "The Gor Mahia match is certainly difficult; in African competitions, away matches are even more challenging. However, we are focusing solely on this game, facing a tough opponent, and striving to achieve the best possible result away from home to make the return leg task slightly easier."
He continued, "The most important thing in the CAF Champions League is the start. Since we are playing a knockout match, we are working hard to secure the best possible result from Kenya."
He concluded, "We have won the title before, so we are working to win it again. God willing, we will achieve it once more, starting our journey against Gor Mahia."
The first leg match will take place in Kenya tomorrow, Sunday, while the return leg is scheduled for next Sunday at the Air Defense Stadium.
Pyramids FC won the CAF Champions League once in the 2024-2025 season after defeating Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 on aggregate across both legs.
Pyramids FC currently tops the Egyptian Premier League standings with 9 points, tied with Al-Ahly but ahead on goal difference in favor of the Sky Blues.
