Mosaïque radio reported that the Étoile du Sahel club is awaiting the approval of the Tunisian Football Federation to sever ties with Anis Boujelban, coach of the Olympic national team, in order to appoint him as technical director of the team.
The report added that the management of Étoile du Sahel has not yet obtained the approval of the Tunisian Football Federation to release Boujelban.
The report clarified that the Tunisian Federation refuses to allow Anis Boujelban to terminate his contract in order to take over the coaching of Étoile du Sahel at the present time.
This is due to the upcoming commitments of the Olympic national team and its expected participation in the 2026 Mediterranean Games at the end of next August.
It was expected that Anis Boujelban would meet in the coming hours with members of the Étoile du Sahel management to discuss the possibility of him taking over the team's coaching, in the event that he reaches a termination of the contract linking him to the Tunisian Football Federation.
A few days ago, the Tunisian Anis Boujelban announced his apology for not joining Al Ahly to work in the scouting committee and searching for players.
Boujelban said in statements reported by the Tunisia Africa News Agency: "I chose to continue with the Tunisian Olympic national team and prepare for the Mediterranean Games and the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics".
He added, "Therefore, I apologized for not joining the scouting committee at Al Ahly".
FilGoal.com revealed earlier that Boujelban believes that national duty comes first for him, and despite that, he has not yet informed Al Ahly of his apology for not being present in the scouting committee.
Al Ahly announced the appointment of Moroccan Hussein Ammouta as coach of the team, succeeding the Dane Jes Thorup, who left after the end of last season.
