A state of controversy prevails within the football team at Zamalek Club, amid the lack of an official decision from the football administration regarding the start date of the preparation period for the new 2026-2027 season.
Zamalek team awaits a number of challenges in the new season, starting with defending the league title for the second consecutive season, and the Egypt Cup, in addition to competing for the Egyptian Super Cup title.
Zamalek will also return to participate in the African Champions League, after the White Castle officially obtained the participation license from the African Football Confederation "CAF".
Although Zamalek Club has resolved the crisis of obtaining the African license, there is another unresolved file so far, represented by the team's failure to return to training.
A source at Zamalek Club had revealed, in statements via "Yalla Koura", the existence of a condition from John Edward, the club's sports director, stipulating that the team would not return to training until the players receive their outstanding financial dues.
The source added that John Edward sent an official letter to the administration of Zamalek Club, headed by Hussein Labib, in which he demanded the swift resolution of the outstanding dues file, in preparation for the team's return to training.
Individual movements by Zamalek players
Amid the team's failure to return to official training, some players resorted to individual training outside the club's walls, in preparation for the new season.
In contrast, Mohamed Shehata, a Zamalek team player, was keen to conduct individual training inside the club's headquarters, in order to prepare for the new season, in addition to maintaining his physical fitness.
Apart from the outstanding financial dues file, Zamalek players await the resolution of the new technical director file, with indications pointing to assigning the task to Serbian coach Razović.
The Serbian coach had expressed his approval to lead the Zamalek team in the new season, as a replacement for Egyptian coach Moataz Jamal, who led the "White Knight" in the second half of the past season and won the league title with them.
