The technical staff of Zamalek Club, led by head coach Moataz Gamal, made a surprising decision regarding the participation of left-back Ahmed Fathou in the match against AS Port Djibouti.
Zamalek will face AS Port at 8:00 PM today, Friday, at Cairo International Stadium, in the first leg of the preliminary round one of the CAF Champions League.
The match between Zamalek and AS Port Djibouti will be broadcast on ON Sport 1 HD channel, with renowned commentator Essam Abdo providing commentary and audio description.
Resting Ahmed Fathou from Zamalek's match against AS Port
A source within Zamalek Club revealed in statements to Yalla Kora that the technical staff, led by Moataz Gamal, decided to rest Ahmed Fathou from the match against AS Port, the Djiboutian champions.
The source added during his statements: "Ahmed Fathou participated in training only once before the match due to suffering from a health issue."
He noted that: "Fathou insisted on being present with his teammates in the team camp and supporting them in preparation for the match against the Djiboutian team in the Champions League."
Zamalek, under the leadership of its head coach Moataz Gamal, aims to achieve a positive result in the first-leg match to assist them ahead of the return leg, scheduled for Saturday, September 12, also at Cairo International Stadium.
It is expected that both the first and second legs will determine the team advancing to the next round of the tournament, given Zamalek's desire to continue its African journey and compete strongly for the title.
