The "Sanatorio Centro" clinic in the Argentine city of Rosario announced today, Saturday, the death of Jorge Messi, father of Argentine star Lionel Messi, at the age of 68.
The clinic's administration said in an official statement, through its medical director: "Sanatorio Centro regrets to inform you of the death of the patient Jorge Messi, aged 68, which occurred today at exactly two o'clock in the morning".

The statement added: "We stand with his family members and loved ones in these difficult moments, and extend our sincere condolences to them".
The clinic stated that it would not disclose any additional details regarding the circumstances of the death, out of respect for the privacy of Messi's family and in compliance with applicable laws protecting patient data, explaining: "Out of respect for the family's privacy, no further details will be provided regarding the medical circumstances of the death".
Jorge Messi was one of the most important people in his son's career, as he managed his sports and professional affairs from his early years, and accompanied him during his move from Argentina to Barcelona at a young age, before Lionel became one of the greatest players in history.
