The mayor of the Turkish city of Trabzon, Ahmet Metin Genç, made statements about the possibility of the Egyptian star Mohamed Salah transferring to the ranks of Trabzonspor during the current summer transfer season.
Press reports received yesterday indicate that Mohamed Salah is close to joining Trabzonspor in the summer mercato, after his transfer step to Beşiktaş failed due to the financial demands of his agent Rami Abbas.
The mayor of the city of Trabzon was asked about the matter, responding in statements published by the Turkish network "haber61": "Mohamed Salah is a big global star; we would be extremely happy if he joins our team".
He added: "Mohamed Salah will carry our team on his shoulders with all the strength he possesses; he is capable of bringing an atmosphere of seriousness and enthusiasm to our city and to Trabzonspor".

He clarified that he had contacted the president of Trabzonspor club regarding the possibility of signing Mohamed Salah, saying: "Our president also keeps secrets; I asked him, but nothing of this sort is on the table at the present time".
He stated: "But we hope it happens; if it does, we would be extremely happy. It would give us greater motivation, that is certain. We hope our team wins the league title with him; we know that and we want it, and so do the fans".
He continued: "All of that depends on the club's budget, its financial resources and capabilities, as well as on our coach. I have no information about those matters. We currently have a team, a united team under our coach's leadership; all aspects must be evaluated".
He concluded: "I am confident that our president and the board of directors will make the most appropriate and optimal decision, but it would be wonderful if it happens; there is no doubt about that".
