Marwan Attia, the Egyptian national team midfielder, apologized for his statements regarding the sacrifices of football players, which sparked a lot of controversy in recent days.

Marwan Attia's statements on MBC Egypt channel about the sacrifices of football players were met with a storm of criticism.

Marwan Attia said via his personal Instagram account: "I apologize to anyone who misunderstood my words regarding the sacrifices of the football player."

The Al Ahly midfielder added, "I meant the pressure of the field of football, which is the field in which I work, and nothing more; I am not talking about the pressure of life in general."

He continued, "I am fully aware that our families and brothers, to whom we belong, toil and strive every day for their livelihood, and they have great sacrifices and much greater pressures."

He added, "We, praise be to God, have been blessed by God with a profession, and God knows that I was only talking about the pressures specific to football, which cannot be compared to the pressures of life and people's toil. Every profession in life has its positive and negative aspects."

He concluded, "I apologize, and I hope I have clarified my point of view, because I do not like anyone to be angry with me."

The Egyptian national team delegation arrived at Alamein International Airport, coming from the United States of America, following the historic achievement the team accomplished by reaching the round of 16 in the World Cup for the first time in history.

Thousands of Egyptian fans gathered to welcome the Egyptian national team delegation and pay tribute to them for their heroic performance and unprecedented results.

The Egyptian national team delegation was received at Alamein Airport by Jawhar Nabil, Minister of Youth and Sports, and Ahmed Diab, President of the Egyptian Clubs Association.
