Spanish press reports clarified that French club Marseille is seeking to sign Raúl Asensio, the defender of Spanish club Real Madrid.
The 23-year-old player holds a contract with the Royal Club until the summer of 2031.
Marseille seeks to sign Asensio
The Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" reported that Asensio is one of the players José Mourinho does not rely on.
The Spanish newspaper added that the Royal Club seeks to offload the center-back this summer.
Mundo Deportivo added that the Spanish player was not enthusiastic about leaving Real Madrid, but given his situation he may ultimately agree to depart.
The Spanish newspaper continued that Marseille wants to sign the Spanish defender on loan.
Mundo Deportivo stressed that the loan includes a mandatory purchase option worth 15 million euros; however, this clause depends on certain targets such as appearances.
The Spanish newspaper concluded that Los Blancos will receive 25% of any future sale of Asensio by the French club.
The Spanish defender featured in 34 matches for the Royal team across all competitions last season, scoring two goals and providing one assist.
Asensio was promoted to the Merengues' first team at the start of the 2024-25 season.
