Egyptian star Omar Marmoush, Manchester City player, commented on his brilliance in the friendly match that the Sky Blues played against Atletico Madrid with a 3-1 result.
Marmoush expressed his happiness at returning once again to the Sky Blues, after a recent period he spent with the Egyptian national team in the 2026 World Cup tournament.
Marmoush said in statements published by Manchester City's official website: "It's great to return to the team again, it was amazing; the pre-season period, trying to learn new tactics, new patterns, what the coach wants, I think we've started to understand it."
He added: "We've started to master it, we've really performed well, we'll go home and continue, I'm enjoying it a lot, as a striker, goals give you confidence, in the second half, all that was on my mind was to run and be there, and they did their job, and we won, it was a really good feeling."
Regarding the goals he scored, he said: "Without Savinho, these goals wouldn't have been possible, all I did was the final touch into the net, that's all, I enjoy it a lot, obviously this gives me confidence as a striker, and helps me take off smoothly, and I just had to put the ball in the net as I said, and of course I'd like to thank Antoine, and this gives me confidence in the pre-season preparation. It's a wonderful feeling, and the next match is the FA Community Shield."
He continued: "Obviously what Pep has done here after 10 years has been incredible, it's not easy after the change, but we've put in a very good performance, and we'll go home and continue the journey."
Regarding the summer vacation, he said: "The summer was wonderful, I also got married, so I lived the best days of my life, and it's great to be back."
Marmoush was asked about the possibility of celebrating in another way after his wedding, and he concluded laughing: "We'll see, we'll see, keep this matter a secret."
