Tottenham Hotspur is close to finalizing the deal for Egyptian striker Omar Marmoush from Manchester City for around £60 million, a move that would push the London club's total spending during the summer transfer window to nearly £400 million.
According to the British newspaper The Telegraph, Marmoush is expected to join Tottenham in the coming days, after the London club reached an agreement to sign Brazilian Savinho from Manchester City for £75 million, rising to £85 million with incentives and add-ons.
With the addition of Marmoush's deal, Tottenham's total spending in the current transfer market will exceed £380 million, reflecting the club's desire to build a new squad capable of strong competition under manager Roberto De Zerbi.
The Marmoush deal provides Tottenham with a heavy-hitting offensive option, especially as the Egyptian player possesses the ability to play either as a striker or on the wings, aligning with De Zerbi's wish to increase the diversity of attacking solutions.
Tottenham needs to reinforce its front line following a difficult start to the season, where Richarlison, Mikey Moore, and Mathys Tel started in the 3-0 defeat against Brentford.
It remains unclear whether Marmoush will be able to join Tottenham before their match against Newcastle, while Manchester City works to complete the signing of Brazilian Allan Elias to compensate for the potential departure of their Egyptian striker.
