Cristiano Ronaldo left the Portugal national team camp in Denmark on Wednesday, one day before facing Denmark in the third round of the UEFA Nations League.
The Spanish newspaper "Marca" revealed that the Portuguese Federation is working to resolve the issues between Cristiano Ronaldo and Jorge Jesus in the coming days.
The report clarified that federation officials are working to restore the relationship between Ronaldo and the national team to normality, ensuring that the player's international career does not end due to recent events.
The management of the Portuguese Federation believes that Ronaldo deserves an ending worthy of what he has provided throughout his career with the national team.
The crisis began during the match between Portugal and Norway in the second round of Group 4 matches in the UEFA Nations League, which ended with a 2-1 victory for Portugal when Ronaldo did not participate in the match.
The Portugal captain did not train in the national team's recent sessions, and Jesus appeared in the press conference before the Denmark match to criticize Cristiano Ronaldo. Consequently, the player left the national team camp after agreeing with the president of the Portuguese Football Federation.
The Portuguese newspaper "O Jogo" revealed that the player decided not to return to represent the Portugal national team again, preferring to retire internationally.
Cristiano Ronaldo participated with the Portugal national team in 234 matches, scoring 146 goals and providing 45 assists.
He won the European Championship once and the UEFA Nations League twice with the Portugal national team.
The Portugal national team tops Group 4 with 9 points from 3 victories, achieving a perfect record.
