Press reports indicated that Manchester City will appeal the ruling issued by the Premier League, based on evidence previously described by the league as "incorrect."
According to the British newspaper "Mirror," the appeal is expected to become more intense and fierce, and the dispute between City and the Premier League may extend beyond the end of the season.
Upcoming appeal from Manchester City against Premier League charges
The report noted that City's lawyers will argue that a government entity in Abu Dhabi, rather than Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, carried out the funding which is at the heart of the acute financial dispute.
City was found guilty of breaching the Premier League's spending rules and using sham arrangements to inflate figures and sponsorship deals worth £900 million.
Conclusive evidence was presented to a competent panel affiliated with the Premier League proving the financial violations occurred. This evidence includes bank statements, money transfers, witnesses, and everything necessary to definitively prove that the funds did not come from the owner.
The primary decision issued by the Premier League, consisting of 40 pages and published on Tuesday, revealed that the independent panel rejected Manchester City's explanation, describing it as "incorrect" in its findings.
The competent panel added in its statement: "We concluded that this was an explanation fabricated by the Sky Blues long after the events occurred, in an attempt to conceal the reality of the disguised funding scheme."
Manchester City responds to Premier League charges
On Tuesday evening, Manchester City announced its intention to appeal against the Premier League's decisions, stating that the panel's ruling contained "clear material errors, legal, principled, and factual, and is unsound."
Following this, officials of the Sky Blues intend to challenge the Premier League's claims, but it appears unlikely that they will fully reverse their decision.
An appeals committee - appointed by the head of the judiciary and composed of three members - will hear City's defense, however, the appeal is threatened with turning into a farce.
Meanwhile, rival clubs in the Premier League are also preparing to take legal action against City to demand compensation following the Premier League's conviction of them.
