Media reports have confirmed that English club Manchester City has entered negotiations to sign Dutch international Cody Gakpo, the winger for Liverpool.
Fabrizio Romano, the journalist specializing in transfer market news, indicated via his account on the social media platform "X" that Manchester City contacted Cody Gakpo's agents today.

Romano added that negotiations have begun while Tottenham is still holding serious talks regarding signing the Dutch star, and personal terms have been agreed upon between Spurs and the player.

The 2025-2026 season witnessed a disappointing decline for the Dutch star, as his goal tally dropped from 18 goals in the previous season to just nine goals in 52 matches.
The Dutch star joined the Reds in January 2023 for €42 million, arriving from Eindhoven.
The Dutch player holds a contract with the Reds until the summer of 2030.
The Dutch winger has won both the English Premier League once and the Carabao Cup once with Liverpool.
Gakpo has played 180 matches for the Reds across all competitions since January 2023, scoring 50 goals and providing 23 assists.
