Al Ahly announced his official signing with Benjdida, coming from the ranks of Maghreb Fes
Omar Benis, president of the sports company at Maghreb Fes Club, said: "We followed Sofiane Benjdida before the start of last season, and we succeeded in convincing him to join the team, despite the circumstances and problems the club was suffering from. Sofiane is a truly wonderful player, and possesses commitment and professionalism".
He explained, "I have spent my life negotiating. Al Ahly was making verbal offers that did not please me, so I provoked them media-wise when I said: Why would our player move to a club that plays in the Confederation Cup, while we will participate in the African Champions League? And immediately after that, the official offer reached me".
He concluded his statements, "Benjdida's salary at Al Ahly is approximately equal to the total salaries of the three largest clubs in Morocco, so I cannot stand in the way of a player whose salary will multiply five or six times".
The Moroccan striker is considered the third signing for Al Ahly after the Enppi duo Ali Mahmoud and Oktay Abdullah.
Benjdida excelled while wearing the Maghreb Fes shirt, as he led them to win the Moroccan League title, and also won the top scorer award in the tournament with 20 goals.
Sofiane Benjdida played 31 matches with Maghreb Fes, scoring 20 goals and providing 2 assists.
Benjdida had a professional journey in his career with the youth stages at Standard Liège club and with the first team of the Belgian club, and he participated with Raja Casablanca in the youth and under-19 teams and the first team, then moved to RWDM and from there to Maghreb Fes.
