A source at Al-Ahly Club revealed the reason for Akram Tawfik's absence from the Red Devils' squad for their match against ZED, scheduled for tomorrow evening, Friday, as part of the second round of the Egyptian Premier League.
The source told "Yalla Kora" in exclusive statements that Akram Tawfik complained of a hamstring strain the day before yesterday, which caused him to miss the team's training session on the same day.
The source clarified that Akram Tawfik participated normally in Al-Ahly's training today, but Hussein Amotta, the team's head coach, preferred to rest him and not include him in the lineup against ZED to avoid aggravating the injury.
Al-Ahly is preparing to face ZED at 8:00 PM tomorrow, Friday, at Cairo International Stadium, within the fixtures of the second round of the Premier League tournament.
The Red Devils' squad list witnessed the absence of several key players, most notably Mohamed Magdy Afasha, who scored the decisive goal in Al-Ahly's previous match against Enppi, in addition to the Moroccan duo Reda Sayem and Achraf Dari.
The list also excluded some new signings, including Tawfik Mohamed and Mahmoud Salah, alongside Akram Tawfik, whom the technical staff preferred to rest after he complained of a hamstring strain.
Meanwhile, Imam Ashour continues to be absent from Al-Ahly's ranks, as he undergoes a rehabilitation program to recover from an injury he sustained, just days after renewing his contract with the club until 2030.
Al-Ahly had begun their league campaign with a 3-2 victory over Enppi, while ZED settled for a goalless draw against Wadi Degla in the first round.
