Hossam El-Zenaty, Deputy Sporting Director of Danish club Nordsjælland, denied reaching a final agreement with the management of Al-Zamalek Club regarding his appointment as the club's sporting director.
El-Zenaty's name had been linked to Al-Zamalek in recent days, following John Edward's departure from the sporting director position before the start of the new season.
In a statement to "Yalla Kora," El-Zenaty said: "I have not yet reached a final agreement with the Al-Zamalek management regarding taking on the role of sporting director, and the decision is expected to be finalized in the coming days."
In the same context, a source told Yalla Kora earlier that Hussein Laby, Chairman of the Al-Zamalek Club Board of Directors, believes El-Zenaty is the most suitable candidate for the sporting director position, as Laby rejects any other nominations for the role.
The source added: "Hossam El-Zenaty was in Cairo over the past few days to finalize negotiations with Al-Zamalek."
He concluded his statement by saying: "Al-Zamalek is awaiting a final agreement with Hossam El-Zenaty to take on the position."
El-Zenaty has previously held several sports positions, most notably serving as Deputy Director of the Africa Cup of Nations, which was hosted by Egypt in the summer of 2019, before working as Director of Competitions for the (2019-2020) season, although he recently decided to leave.
El-Zenaty also served as Sporting Director of Gouna Club, before eventually taking on the role of Deputy Sporting Director at Danish club Nordsjælland.
