Shawqi Ghareeb, the technical director of the Egyptian Football Association, has settled on opening the dual-nationality file during the coming period, in order to bolster the ranks of the national teams with the best players across the various age groups.
Shawqi Ghareeb assumed the position of technical director of the Football Association as part of a package of decisions issued by the Egyptian Football Association, the most prominent of which was the appointment of Essam Abdel Fattah as head of the referees committee.
Shawqi Ghareeb opens the dual-nationality file
A source at the Egyptian Football Association revealed via "Yalla Koura" that Shawqi Ghareeb, the technical director of the Association, requested access to all files of dual-nationality players who had been identified in the recent period.
The same source, who preferred to remain unnamed, added that Shawqi Ghareeb intends to open communication channels with more than one player in the coming period, especially after the successful experience of Haitham Hassan with the Egyptian national team.
Haitham Hassan participated with the Egyptian national team during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, and the Real Oviedo player succeeded in drawing attention to himself with his standout talent, contributing to the Pharaohs' qualification for the round of 16 at the World Cup.
