French newspaper L'Équipe revealed that the 23-year-old player has ended negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain management, after deciding not to extend his contract, confirming that the motive behind his decision is sporting and not financial, despite the improved offer presented by the club to increase his salary.
The report explained that Barcola no longer wishes to continue in the role he plays within the team, as he often participates as a substitute or in the winger position, which made him start the last two Champions League finals on the bench.
Despite his decision, the player's departure during the summer transfer window has not been decided yet, as the coming weeks will determine his future with the Parisian club.
The report indicated that Liverpool, Arsenal, and Bayern Munich have entered the race to sign Barcola, while Chelsea has withdrawn from the competition.
L'Équipe added that Real Madrid's move to sign Yan Diomande, Paris Saint-Germain's primary target, has changed the transfer market map, and may have a direct impact on Barcola's future in the coming period.
