Mohamed Ahmed Salama, president of Al-Ittihad Alexandria, said in statements toFilGoal.com: "We will open an investigation into the incident of player Makari Younani, and the wrongdoer will be held accountable if his guilt is proven".
Meanwhile, Mohamed Nour, head of the youth sector at Al-Ittihad Club, explained viaFilGoal.com and said in exclusive statements: "Makari was in Al-Ittihad's 'B' team born in 2013 last season, and this summer he entered the trials for the 'A' team and passed the first stage".
He added, "What happened is that while one of the coaches (Ahmed Ahmed Sari) asked the player about his name, he answered: Makari Younani, and the coach replied: 'And how is this name pronounced or written'".
He continued, "The player's mother complained about the matter after he cried and hinted at religious persecution, but this is not true at all, as evidenced by Makari's presence in the 'B' team last season".
He concluded, "We held a session with the player and his mother, who fully understood the matter and deleted the post she had published on social media".
