Essam Siraj, Al-Ahly's contracts director, revealed behind-the-scenes details of negotiations with Imam Ashour, the team's player, regarding his contract renewal.
Al-Ahly announced days ago the renewal of Imam Ashour's contract until 2030.
Essam Siraj stated on the club's channel: "There is someone claiming to be Imam Ashour's agent, but he is not; his agents are only the Spanish representative and the Egyptian Mohamed Kafta."
He added, "Imam Ashour did not feign injury nor rebel against Al-Ahly; he deserved the fans' appreciation and more."
He continued, "We wanted to financially appreciate Imam Ashour, even though his contract was already extended for two upcoming seasons."
He went on to say, "I met with Imam more than once, but the discussion was not about money; it was about contract clauses. Imam never exceeded the ceiling and regulations set by the club."
He further stated, "We informed the players who participated in the 2026 World Cup that they would receive significant appreciation."
He clarified, "Imam did not wish to turn professional abroad; he wanted to continue with Al-Ahly."
He concluded, "I presented our financial offer to Imam for renewing his contract, and he never rejected it."
Al-Ahly is preparing to face their rival Smouha next Thursday in the third round of the Egyptian Premier League.
Al-Ahly defeated Sharqia Enppi and ZED during the past two rounds.
