Andoni Iraola, Liverpool coach, spoke in a press conference, before the friendly match against Leeds United next Sunday in preparation for the new season.
Liverpool had achieved their second friendly victory against Wrexham with a clean sheet, scored by Rio Ngumoha, after defeating Sunderland 4-2.
Iraola said in statements published by "Anfield Sector": "I think I am now better than I was last year as I have gained an additional year of experience in the Premier League".
He added: "We are facing a different challenge now, as the ceiling of expectations has risen and the challenge for me as a coach is to adapt tactically to new scenarios, we have taken the first steps and the preparatory tour is going well and I am happy with that but we are still waiting for the integration of the main players and it is a process that is proceeding gradually and continuously, we are moving in the right direction".

Iraola was asked about Florian Wirtz: "We need to see him at his best, we know what he is capable of offering us, Wirtz fits our style of play perfectly and is suitable for the playmaker position and we will start working with him, we seek to add more to his abilities, he is a very complete player and has a distinguished mental state and will play in the number 10 position".
Iraola said about Joe Gomez: "Joe Gomez is suffering from an injury, the matter was completely clear, he will be absent for several weeks, yes, it is a serious injury and requires a month or perhaps less, but it is impossible for him to be available at the start of the league season even if he returns shortly after that".
Iraola praised his striker Isak: "He is an exciting player, he joined us while in good condition, he performed well in the World Cup and feels comfortable, he had his first training session with us and although it is still early I hope he can participate against Leeds and have a good preparatory period and it may not be long but I hope it includes 3 or 4 weeks of high-quality training, he is in an excellent position and will become a very important player for us".
Iraola concluded: "Many players have surprised me, especially the young ones, many of them delivered a high level in this preparatory tour and there is room for development, we will recover some players and our lineup against Newcastle will not be the same that played yesterday, there are important players who participated in the World Cup and bear greater responsibility and now we are facing a new challenge, we must involve new players gradually, players who understand our path and can contribute".
