Spanish newspaper AS revealed that Fozinha, the goalkeeper of the Cape Verde national team, has become wanted in the ranks of American Inter Miami, after stealing the spotlight during his participation in the 2026 World Cup.
The Cape Verde national team succeeded in achieving a historic achievement in the 2026 World Cup, reaching the round of 32 during its first participation in its history.
AS reported that Fozinha received interest from American Inter Miami, following the distinguished levels he presented in the 2026 World Cup tournament.
The newspaper added that the 40-year-old goalkeeper became a free agent after the end of his contract with the Portuguese club Chaves, making him a target for several clubs seeking to sign him without compensation.
It pointed out that Inter Miami, which includes Argentine Lionel Messi among its ranks, is among the most prominent interested in signing the goalkeeper during the current transfer period.
From an unknown goalkeeper to surpassing world stars
AS noted that the brilliance in the World Cup was also reflected in Fozinha's popularity, after the number of his followers on Instagram rose to 28.3 million, surpassing a number of the world's most prominent goalkeepers, such as Belgian Thibaut Courtois (18.1 million), Spanish Iker Casillas (20.4 million), and German Manuel Neuer (15 million).
The newspaper concluded that Fozinha's career witnessed a major transformation in the past weeks, after moving from a goalkeeper who was not widely known to one of the tournament's most prominent stars, amid increasing interest in signing him.
