Gianni Infantino, President of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), has made a significant decision regarding whether or not to run for a new presidential term, as the Swiss official is already facing immense pressure.

There is considerable pressure to prevent Infantino from seeking another presidential term, along with demands for his resignation from his current position, following fierce criticism directed at the Swiss official after he proposed selling portions of FIFA tournament shares, such as the World Cup, to external investors.

This proposal led to widespread criticism of Infantino before he eventually retracted the decision; however, calls for his resignation persist.

A formal FIFA spokesperson confirmed today that Infantino will indeed run for a new presidential term, with elections scheduled to take place in April of next year.

Reliable journalist Ben Jacobs quoted the official spokesperson: "Infantino, the current FIFA President, announced last April that he would seek re-election in 2027. Naturally, nothing has changed; he will definitely stand for re-election."

Numerous candidates are expected to vie to succeed Infantino at FIFA in the coming period, foremost among them Nasser Al-Khelaifi, current president of Paris Saint-Germain FC.
