Maamoun Gamal, the head coach of Al-Zamalek SC’s first football team, has continued his negative record against Hamza Gamal, failing to secure a win for the third consecutive time in their head-to-head encounters.
Al-Zamalek kicked off their campaign in the 2026-2027 Egyptian Premier League season with a goalless draw against Al-Ittihad Alexandria, last Friday evening at the Cairo International Stadium, in a match of the first round of the tournament.
The White Knights failed to capitalize on the home advantage and their supportive crowd to achieve a strong start against the “Leader of the Port,” in their quest to defend the league title, settling for just one point, while Al-Ittihad secured a valuable draw.
Maamoun Gamal continues to struggle against Hamza Gamal
The series of encounters between Maamoun Gamal and Hamza Gamal began last season, 2025-2026, when Hamza was managing Enppi against Al-Zamalek. The match ended with a 1-0 victory for the “Petroleum Team” in Round 15 of the first leg of the league.
The meeting between Maamoun Gamal and Hamza Gamal was renewed in the fourth round of the title-deciding stage of the league in the same season, between Al-Zamalek and Enppi, which ended in a goalless draw.
With the teams’ encounter in the new 2026/2027 season, Al-Zamalek, led by Maamoun Gamal, stumbled with a goalless draw against Al-Ittihad, led by Hamza Gamal, leaving the former unable to achieve any victory against the latter.
It is worth noting that Maamoun Gamal has managed the White Club in a total of 28 matches across all competitions, including the Egyptian Premier League, the Egyptian Cup, the League Cup, and the African Confederation Cup.
Maamoun Gamal has managed to win a total of 16 matches, draw 5, and suffer 7 defeats. Al-Zamalek scored 39 goals and conceded 25 during Maamoun Gamal’s tenure as head coach.
