Al Ahly club officials are trying to block the path of clubs targeting the signing of Egyptian international Imam Ashour, following his recent performance with the "Pharaohs" national team in the 2026 World Cup.
The 28-year-old Imam Ashour managed to attract the attention of many European and American clubs after his recent participation in the World Cup, during which he scored two goals against Belgium and Australia.
A source told "Yalla Koura" that Al Ahly is preparing an offer to extend Imam Ashour's contract, which is due to expire in the summer of 2028, noting that the offer will be the highest financially under the new policy adopted by the administration. Read the details
The British network "TEAMtalk" had earlier revealed interest from Premier League clubs in buying Imam Ashour's contract from Al Ahly, such as Brighton, in addition to West Ham United.
Scottish club Celtic has also expressed its desire to sign the Egyptian international, with the deal expected to be worth no less than £4 million.
Imam Ashour joined Al Ahly in the summer of 2023 from Danish side Midtjylland, where he played 105 matches, scoring 32 goals and providing 25 assists, according to the player's stats on the global "Transfermarkt".
