Ikramy El-Shahat, the former Al-Ahly and Egypt national team legend, commented on the retirement of his son Sherif Ikramy, the former Al-Ahmar and Pyramids goalkeeper, after his decision to end his career on the pitches.
Ikramy El-Shahat spoke tearfully, via "ON Sport" channel: "I am sad because of Sherif leaving the pitch, I used to see that he could continue because he is a continuation of my career on the pitches".
He continued: "I wished for his continuation and rejected his retirement decision and I loved for him to continue but he left the pitch before the pitch left him)".
He added: "Sherif loves us very much and he felt for us at the time of his brother's death and we love him more than his love for his family and he endured a lot very much".
He concluded regarding Sherif's future: "I did not think about the matter, all I feel is the same feeling I had at the time of my retirement when I was a player and previous memories returned to me and the same sadness and everything, Sherif is the love of my heart and I love him".
