Hossam Hassan, the technical director of the Egyptian national team, confirmed that the "Pharaohs" were close to achieving a historic result against Argentina in the 2026 World Cup, pointing out that the pressures the players were exposed to, in addition to the consecutive injuries, had a significant impact on the course of the match.

Hossam Hassan explained in statements to the "Maakom" program on ON channel that the Egyptian national team was exposed to a state of confusion and pressure throughout the match, considering that the referee's decisions and the way the match was managed put the players under great psychological pressure, which was reflected in their performance on the field, especially with the many tackles and the failure to award some fouls in favor of the national team, which made the players feel wronged, according to his description.

The technical director added that all five substitutions he made during the match were forced due to injuries, explaining that Imam Ashour suffered a tear, while Haitham Hassan had to stay on the pitch until he was substituted, despite delivering one of his best performances.

He pointed out that the sequence of events during the match did not give the team a chance to regain its balance, explaining that there was not enough time to contain the situation, which caused the players' confidence to shake and scattered the national team's plans during the match.

Hossam Hassan revealed the behind-the-scenes of what happened inside the locker room after the match, confirming that he felt sad because the team was close to achieving its goal, but he made sure to thank the players and told them of his pride in what they had presented throughout the tournament, stressing that they had given their utmost.

The technical director praised all members of the national team delegation, starting from the Football Association board of directors, through the technical and administrative staff, and even the workers, confirming that the success achieved by the team was the result of collective work, and that any shortcoming by any member of the system would have affected what was accomplished.

Hossam Hassan concluded his statements by emphasizing that the team emerged with great gains from the tournament, most notably gaining experience and the ability to compete against the strongest teams, pointing out that the players endured great pressure over two months, and their primary goal was to please the Egyptian fans.
