Hossam Hassan, the head coach of the Egyptian national team, confirmed that he does not care about criticism, noting that the team suffered from difficult circumstances, following the victory over South Sudan.
The Egyptian national team crushed its counterpart from South Sudan with a five-goal margin without reply, in the second round of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Hossam Hassan said during the press conference: "I am very pleased with the performance. In the Angola match, we did not show at the required level because we returned after a period of absence following the World Cup."
He added: "The players were not sufficiently ready physically, especially with the start of the Egyptian league, but our performance was not bad."
He continued: "South Sudan is a good team, and the match was difficult. The home factor and the weather affected us, but we showed our strength well, controlled the match, and the victory reflects the work we have done."
Responding to skeptics after the five-goal win?: "Always and forever, I respect criticism, whether when I was a player or a coach. I am used to pressure, and I do not respond to anyone because we have a great fan base and people whom we love, and I must exert maximum effort for them. All my focus is that I do not look around or at any specific person currently; I look at one goal, me and the group, since I had the honor of coaching the Egyptian national team. Our goal is to make 120 million people happy and for our team to have a specific style of play."
He elaborated: "The Angola match had many circumstances. The players came after 80 days from the World Cup, or players who were delayed due to injuries and did not participate in the preparation period, such as Emam Ashour, Fathouh, Ziko, Haitham Hassan who had an injury, Hamdy Fathy, Yasser Ibrahim, and Trezeguet, who is a very strong force, of course."
