The government of Paraguay issued an official statement in which it expressed its strong rejection of the statements made by Senator Celeste Amaria against the captain of the French national team Kylian Mbappe.

The statement affirmed that these statements contradict the values and principles upon which the state is based, foremost among which is respect for human dignity and peaceful coexistence among peoples.
The government stressed that what was issued by the deputy does not represent Paraguay but rather represents a personal opinion that does not reflect the position of the state or the Paraguayan people, explaining that the democratic system in the country is based on the separation of powers, and that members of parliament bear responsibility for their statements individually.
Senator Celeste Amaria had mocked Kylian Mbappe after France's victory over Paraguay, using racist expressions and describing him as ignorant and a Cameroonian colonizer pretending to be French.
The Paraguayan government statement came as follows:
"The government of the Republic of Paraguay expresses its regret and rejection of the statements made by Senator Celeste Amaria, directed at the captain of the French national team Kylian Mbappe, which contradict the values and principles upon which peaceful shared life and respect for human dignity promoted by our country are based.
Paraguay affirms that it is a democratic republic based on the principle of separation and independence of powers, and in this context, the statements issued by this parliamentarian fall exclusively within her individual responsibility as a member of the legislative authority, and do not in any way represent the position of the government of the Republic of Paraguay or the Paraguayan people.
The government of Paraguay renews its firm commitment to promoting human rights, equality, and respect among persons, and combating racism, xenophobia, intolerance, and all forms of hatred or discrimination.
It also expresses its solidarity with all those who may have been affected by these statements, and reaffirms its respect for the French people, with whom Paraguay has a historical relationship based on friendship, cooperation, and mutual understanding".
