Mahmoud Hassan "Trezeguet" officially departed Al Ahly after one season spent with the red team.
Al Ahly announced Trezeguet's departure after terminating his contract by mutual agreement between the two parties.
Trezeguet's message came as follows: "Before anything... Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds, I was raised here, grew up here, and learned here the meaning of belonging, and I will never forget that every step I reached started from this place".
He continued, "Today I leave to embark on a new professional experience, carrying with me the pride of representing this emblem, and all the memories that will remain with me for a lifetime. Leaving is not a farewell to Al Ahly, because Al Ahly will always remain a part of my heart, wherever I am".
He added, "Thanks to the board of directors headed by Mahmoud El Khatib, the technical staff, and my teammates who were my family on and off the pitch, and to every individual working for this great club".
Trezeguet concluded his message, "To the great Al Ahly fans, you are not just supporters, you are the secret behind every victory, and the true motivation that makes any player give more than he has. Thank you for the love, the chants, and the support in the toughest and most beautiful moments. I will leave, but your love will remain with me in every pitch I play on".
It was learned by FilGoal.com that Trezeguet requested to leave Al Ahly and the club asked for a financial sum in order to approve his departure.
Trezeguet agreed with Al Ahly to pay the required amount to the club and then terminate the contract between the two parties.
Trezeguet played for Al Ahly for one season after joining the Reds coming from Qatari club Al Rayyan.
Trezeguet is expected to join Saudi club Al Riyadh next season.
The deal will be officially announced by the Saudi side in the coming hours.
Trezeguet participated with the Egypt national team in the World Cup and scored a goal.
Trezeguet played 32 matches with Al Ahly last season, scoring 18 goals and providing one assist.
