FC Barcelona has decided, following an analysis of the transfer market, not to sign any central striker unless it can secure the services of Julián Álvarez, the Atlético Madrid forward.
According to Spanish radio station Cadena Ser, the Catalan club will try until the end to finalize the deal for the Atlético forward, who is a priority for manager Hansi Flick, amid the club's recognition of the effort the player puts in.
The Argentine striker had received a call from Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, but he does not wish to move to the Gunners, as he only wants to play for Barcelona.
The other alternatives for the striker position are Harry Kane, Lautaro Martínez, and João Pedro, but they are not available to Barcelona.
As for lower-cost options such as Tresoldi or Eli Kroupi, they are well-liked but would not improve the current level of Barcelona's squad.
The Spanish radio station noted that if Álvarez is not signed, Flick will consider several players from the current squad to fill the striker position, such as Raphinha, Gordon, Adeyemi, Dani Olmo, and Hamza Abde Karim.
Hamza Abde Karim remains in Flick's plans despite not featuring in Barcelona's first La Liga match against Elche.
