Hani Abu Rida, President of the Egyptian Football Association, revealed the truth about his intervention during the licensing period until Zamalek Club resolved the number of cases that were preventing it from obtaining the African license to participate in the African Champions League.
Zamalek had succeeded in settling the cases with former players and coaches of the club who had dues with the White Castle, confirming its participation in the African Champions League for the new 2026-2027 season.
Abu Rida said during statements via Al-Nahar channel: "Zamalek succeeded in settling 18 cases with the International Federation (FIFA) before July 25 last, before the final deadline set by the African Union (CAF)".
He added: "I did not intervene during the licensing period, but it was a request from the licensing committee and some other clubs on the continent, but the African Union completely rejected the matter".

He continued: "The Football Association did not support any specific club and does not favor anyone and stands at an equal distance between everyone and the interest of Egyptian football above any consideration, and that Zamalek paid huge sums because of submitting its players' registration papers in the previous season".
He concluded: "We have scheduled the outstanding dues for several clubs and not just Zamalek within the framework of cooperation between the Football Association and the rest of the clubs and concern for all Egyptian clubs".
