Manchester City Croatian player Josko Gvardiol spoke about the appointment of Enzo Maresca as his club's technical director, in addition to renewing his contract with the club for the next 5 years.
Enzo Maresca was appointed as Manchester City coach succeeding Pep Guardiola, and the Croatian defender renewed his contract with the team until 2031.
Gvardiol's statements
Gvardiol said in statements to the "Manchester Evening News": "The level is very high, and Enzo was chosen as technical director on merit. I think he has the competence, and he has some new ideas, and we need to know the style of play, the football we will play, and the tactics we will adopt."
He added: "I think he is the right person, but of course it needs time. It is completely new, and it is not easy to change the technical director, so we will need some time."
He continued: "It is our duty to help him as much as possible, listen to him, and try to adapt as quickly as possible."
Regarding renewing his contract with Manchester City, Gvardiol said: "I am happy to sign a new contract for five years."
He added: "I am still 24 years old, and with a new technical director, everyone has to compete for their positions, no one is guaranteed their place."
He concluded his statements by saying: "I think we will witness a lot of changes, and I look forward to knowing what will happen at the beginning of the season, and how we will play. Every day represents a new challenge and a new opportunity."
