Pep Guardiola, the former coach of Manchester City Club, spoke about the real reasons that prompted him to leave coaching the English club, after ten years of presence inside the Etihad Stadium.
Guardiola decided to leave Manchester City at the end of last season, after a long career with the English club that witnessed winning many titles.
Guardiola admitted in an interview with the magazine "OKX" that he felt the need to rest, explaining that he still loves coaching.
Guardiola said: "I spent ten years with the same routine, playing the same matches and preparing for them every three days, it's like eating pasta every day."
He added: "I love coaching a lot, but there comes a time when you feel that the time has come to take a break, I felt that I no longer have the energy necessary to be at the top or to live with the idea of playing every three days."

He explained: "I learned from my experience as a former player and coach, that perseverance and discipline at work do not guarantee you success alone, but it is impossible to try to succeed without discipline and perseverance."
He continued: "If you love what you do, you must have perseverance and have strong work ethics, I prefer that over working 12 hours one day and two hours the next day, and doing the same thing every day, arriving at nine in the morning and finishing work at five in the evening."
He continued: "People say that the more a person worries, the greater the likelihood of his success, I don't know, sometimes you may do wonderful things and occupy your mind with the effort exerted, then success does not come."
Guardiola believes that any coach's ideas must evolve year after year, to cope with the requirements of football, as he concluded: "You always do the same training and have the same ideas and the same tactics, this must change year after year."
Guardiola was close to coaching the Italian national team during the past period, but the negotiations stumbled in the final meters, which was confirmed by the former technical director of the Italian Federation, Paolo Maldini (details from here).
