Trabzonspor continues its search for a new head coach following the departure of Fatih Tekke after the team's loss to Amiens SC in the Turkish Super League, with two names emerging as top candidates to lead the squad.
Trabzonspor has not yet made a final decision regarding the new coach, as the club's management continues evaluating several local and foreign options, while fans await the outcome of ongoing negotiations with Arda Turan in the coming period.
According to the Turkish newspaper "Fanatik," Trabzonspor is experiencing a busy period in its quest for a new manager after officially entering the new season's competitions, which began with the team's elimination from the Europa League qualifying playoffs.
Ertuğrul Doğan, president of Trabzonspor, hinted at the club's direction in the coaching search during his statements, saying: "We cannot afford to make mistakes; therefore, we will conduct an intensive search, but it is likely that the new coach will be foreign. Our current efforts align with this approach."
The report indicated that several foreign coaches, including Sérgio Conceição and Marcelino, who are currently unattached, are on Trabzonspor's agenda.
Conceição previously managed Saudi club Al-Ittihad starting in October 2025, replacing Frenchman Laurent Blanc, and remained until June 2026, leading the team in 41 matches across various competitions, achieving 21 wins, 7 draws, and 13 losses, while reaching the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League Elite.
Despite signing Egyptian star Mohamed Salah and other notable players such as Brazilian Fabinho, Trabzonspor delivered a modest performance in the league championship, recording one win, one draw, and one loss, while also being eliminated from the Europa League qualifiers by Hungarian side Ferencváros.
