Gavi may miss the match against Bilbao

Barcelona midfielder Pablo Gavi is likely to miss the team's match against Athletic Bilbao on Thursday.

Gavi missed Barcelona's group training session on Wednesday after suffering a bruise during the match against Elche.

Mundo Deportivo reported that Barcelona manager Hansi Flick will continue to monitor Gavi's condition over the coming hours to determine his availability for the match.

According to numerous reports, Flick may opt not to risk fielding Gavi against Bilbao.

In related news, Rodri continued to participate in Barcelona's group training for the third consecutive day, with expectations pointing to the possibility of his first appearance in the Blaugrana shirt against Bilbao.

On Monday, Barcelona club clarified the details of Gavi's injury.

Barcelona stated in a statement: "Gavi sustained an injury to his right knee, and medical examinations conducted on Monday morning confirmed it is merely a bruise."

The statement concluded: "He is expected to return to training soon."

After the match, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick spoke about Gavi's injury, saying: "It is a knee injury. We must be patient and wait for the test results. His condition is slightly better than expected after the injury. He felt much better after the match, and we will see what happens."

Barcelona secured a significant victory over Elche, winning 5-0 in the second round of the Spanish La Liga.

Barcelona's five goals were scored by: Raphinha (two goals), Fermín López (two goals), and Karim Adeyemi.

Barcelona won their first three points in their campaign to defend their La Liga title.
