Manaf Abu Shuqair, former star of Saudi club Al-Ittihad, revealed that the club will not sign Imam Ashour, an Al-Ahly player, during the ongoing summer transfer window.
Imam Ashour's name had been linked with moves to several foreign clubs this summer, including Turkey's Konyaspor and Saudi Arabia's Al-Ittihad.
In statements made on the program "Dorina Ghair" via Saudi SBC channel, Manaf Abu Shuqair said: "Previously, we mentioned that Frank Kessié, an Al-Ahly Saudi player, was among the names considered for a move to Al-Ittihad, but that has now changed."
The former Saudi international star added: "I have fully confirmed information that Al-Ittihad will not sign either Kessié or Imam Ashour; this duo is no longer under consideration."
He continued: "Al-Ittihad's management has decided to sign players, one in the winger position and another in midfield, but neither Ounahi, Imam Ashour, nor Frank Kessié are among them."
Concluding his remarks, Manaf Abu Shuqair stated: "The winger deal will be with an Arab player, and my information confirms that Frank Kessié is not under consideration and will not join Al-Ittihad, neither he nor Imam Ashour."
It is worth noting that Al-Ahly club issued an official statement a few days ago, declaring that Imam Ashour is not available for sale during the current summer transfer window.
