Former Real Madrid player Santiago Cañizares harshly criticized the behavior of Brazilian player Vinícius Júnior, stating that no club would want to sign a player like him.
Real Madrid opened their season with a match against Espanyol, securing a 2-1 victory in La Liga. The game was marked by controversy surrounding Vinícius, who fell twice due to opponent interventions, heightening tensions during the encounter.
Cañizaris stated in remarks published by the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" regarding Vinícius: "There was discussion this summer; he had one year left on his contract, and the option was either to sell him or keep him."

Cañizares added, emphasizing: "It's about what he provides in terms of football versus what he takes from us. Do you know what happened? No one wanted him."
He stressed: "No one wants a player like this at their club, and I don't believe he received any offers. Real Madrid was compelled to renew his contract because certainly no team or agent contacted him. No one desires a player with such characteristics, perhaps a smaller team, Newcastle for example. Vinícius is extremely happy."
