Pascal Ferré, the former editor-in-chief of the French magazine France Football, warned Kylian Mbappé that he could lose the Ballon d'Or this year due to his advertising campaign.

Kylian Mbappé is competing with 29 players among the world's best stars for the Ballon d'Or award presented by "France Football" magazine, with Barcelona's Lamine Yamal and Bayern Munich's Harry Kane being his main rivals.

Ferré said in statements published by the global network "Touchline": "We have seen a candidate presenting himself as the chosen one and the favorite in all languages and across different continents."

He added: "Why are you running a campaign? The public does not participate in the voting; it is the members of the jury who do so, and through my communication with them, I do not feel that this campaign has had an exceptional resonance."

Mbappé's nomination stems from his exceptional scoring records with Real Madrid and the French national team, having scored 10 goals in the World Cup and netted 43 goals for his Spanish club.

Global football fans await knowing the name of the Ballon d'Or winner through the ceremony to be held in the British capital London on October 26th of this month.
