Hansi Flick, Barcelona's manager, praised one of the team's new signings during the current summer transfer window after winning the Joan Gamper Trophy against Al Ahly with a score of 2-1.
Barcelona announced this morning that it has signed Portuguese full-back João Cancelo on a permanent transfer deal on a free transfer after he terminated his contract with Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal.
The 32-year-old Portuguese full-back's desire played a decisive role in completing his transfer to Barcelona after he left a strong impression with his performances in the second half of last season.

Speaking about Cancelo in a statement on Barcelona's official account on the "X" platform, Flick said: "When he joined last season, I thought he would need some time to adapt, but in the end, he gave us many options and high quality in attack, as well as performing very well defensively."
Flick added: "This is exactly what I expect from him, defense, because as a full-back, he must defend very well, but what he can offer us in attack is exceptional."
Cancelo featured in 23 matches last season, mostly as a left full-back, scoring two goals and providing three assists.
It is worth noting that Barcelona will face Elche next Sunday in their first official match of the Spanish league season.
