Michael Olise put France ahead in the 55th minute, capitalizing on a pass from Rayan Cherki, giving the home side a long-awaited advantage and continuing his impressive form with the French national team following his decisive goal against Belgium in the previous round.
However, Italy did not give up, and Alessandro Bastoni equalized in the 68th minute, as the Italian team seized one of their available opportunities to bring the match back to square one.
