Khaled El-Derandali, Vice President of the Football Association and head of the Egyptian national team mission at the 2026 World Cup, commented on the World Cup exit, refusing to talk about refereeing errors against Argentina.
The Egyptian national team lost to Argentina 2-3 in the round of 16 of the World Cup.
El-Derandali said in statements via Sada El-Balad channel: "The players were men, and the Egyptian national team was the closest to winning and qualifying at the expense of Argentina".
He added: "I cannot talk about refereeing because of my position in the Football Association, but we thank the players and the technical staff, and I tell them you have honored us in front of the world".
He continued: "We plan for the future and try to support the Egyptian national team with talented players who are present in various leagues".
He went on: "We could have qualified for the quarter-finals and semi-finals in the World Cup, but now we must look to the future and plan well because we want to reach a higher position in the next edition of the 2030 World Cup".
Regarding Mustafa Shobier's brilliance in the World Cup, Khaled El-Derandali confirmed: "Mustafa has put himself in (another place) after the level he showed in the World Cup, and he gave a wonderful performance".
