The start date of the 2026-27 season has been determined for the new Egyptian League season.

It is expected that 20 teams will participate in the Egyptian League next season after 4 teams were relegated in the 2025-26 season to the Professional League and 3 were promoted to the Premier League.

According to what FilGoal.com learned, the start date of the new season will be on August 20 next.

As FilGoal.com previously revealed, the system of the previous two seasons will continue in the new season, and the first round will be held in a single-round league format, while in the second round the teams will be divided into two groups. (See details)

The title group includes 6 teams, and the relegation avoidance group will include 14 teams, from which 4 will be relegated to the Professional League.

The 2027-28 season will witness the participation of 19 teams, then the number will shrink to become 18 in the 2028-29 season.

The financial prize for the league champion has risen from 5 million pounds to become 50 million pounds, i.e. 10 times.

Diab said during the conference announcing the new sponsor of the Egyptian League: "The Clubs Association faced many challenges, broadcasting contracts doubled by 300%, and we finished the league normally in May and the start in August with the rest of the leagues around the world".

He added, "The reward for winning the next Egyptian League title will become 50 million pounds".

He revealed, "40 million pounds have been provided to be distributed among all the popular clubs participating in the Egyptian League next season, in agreement with Ora, the new league sponsor".

It is worth noting that the teams used to receive only one million pounds for participating in the Egyptian League, and thus the popular teams will benefit financially by up to 40 times the previous value.

Zamalek won the Egyptian League title in the past season after a fierce struggle with Pyramids and Al-Ahly until the last round.
