Bakr will play a match with his Croatian team against Swiss Thun in the UEFA Champions League preliminary round on Tuesday evening.

It is expected that Bakr will sign his transfer contracts to Al Ahly after this match.

This comes after Dinamo Zagreb reached an agreement with Al Ahly days ago regarding postponing Mounsef Bakr's transfer.

FilGoal.com also learned that the Algerian player will join Al Ahly in Cairo, before traveling with the team to a training camp in Spain on August 6.

Bakr had joined Dinamo Zagreb in the summer of last year, coming from New York City, and signed a contract that runs until 2028.

Croatian website Jutarnji revealed last week that Dinamo Zagreb reached an agreement allowing the player to stay with the team until playing the second preliminary round matches of the UEFA Champions League against Swiss Thun.

The report clarified that the deal amounted to 3 million euros as a base value, with the possibility of rising to 4 million euros through incentives.

This comes alongside the Croatian club receiving 10% of any future resale value.

Dinamo Zagreb will play against Swiss team Thun home and away on July 21 and 28.

The Algerian striker participated in 42 matches during the past season, scoring 18 goals and providing 7 assists.

Al Ahly seeks to bolster its attack in preparation for the season under the leadership of Moroccan Hussein Ammouta, having signed Oktay Abdullah from Enppi and Sofiane Benguedda from Maghreb Fez.

Mounsef Bakr began his career with USM Sétif before moving to Croatian club Istra in the summer of 2022.

Bakr then moved to American club New York City in the summer of 2023, before returning to the Croatian league via Dinamo Zagreb last summer.

The 25-year-old played 42 matches with Dinamo Zagreb, scoring 18 goals and providing 7 assists in all competitions.

Internationally, he represented the Algerian national team in 7 matches and scored 2 goals.
