Al Ahly completed the agreement with the Spanish club Badalona to face it in a friendly during the Spain training camp.

It was learned by FilGoal.com that Al Ahly will play against Badalona, which competes in the fifth Spanish division, on August 12 in Barcelona.

The match comes within the technical staff's plan for Al Ahly, led by Hussein Ammouta, to prepare the players for the new season.

The ownership of Badalona club had transferred to the Egyptian businessman Amir Zuhair Granah.

It was learned by FilGoal.com that Al Ahly decided to return by private plane from the Spain training camp, due to the limited time before the league starts.

Al Ahly returns from the camp after playing against Barcelona in the Joan Gamper Cup on August 19.

The Egyptian league kicks off on the 21st of the same month.

The Al Ahly club board, headed by Mahmoud El Khatib, announced the assignment of board member Tarek Kandil to head the football team's delegation in Spain.

The Al Ahly team delegation flies to Spain next Thursday in preparation for the external preparation camp.

Al Ahly's preparation camp in Spain will be held from August 6 to 20.

The camp will include an anticipated match between Al Ahly and Barcelona at Camp Nou on the 19th of this month.

This comes within the Joan Gamper Cup competitions in its 61st edition.

The Egyptian league draw will be held on Wednesday, August 5.

Al Ahly will be set for a new page in its history when it faces Barcelona on August 19, within the 61st edition of the Joan Gamper Cup, one of the most prestigious friendly tournaments in European football.

Although it is a friendly tournament, it represents for Barcelona fans an annual celebration of the start of the new season, and is considered the official event during which the Catalan club presents its team to its fans.

The Joan Gamper Cup tournament began in 1966 at the initiative of then-Barcelona president Enric Llaudet, in honor of the club's Swiss founder Joan Gamper, who founded Barcelona in 1899 and was the first to lay the foundations of the club that later became one of the largest clubs in the world.

The tournament has continued annually since then, becoming a fixed tradition on Barcelona's agenda before the start of the season.

In its early years, the tournament was held with the participation of four teams in a semifinal and final system, determining the third and fourth places.

But since 1997, Barcelona decided to change the system so that the tournament became a single match between the Catalan team and its guest, a system that continues to this day.
