Hungarian club Ferencváros defeated their Turkish guests, Trabzonspor, by four goals without reply in the match that brought the two teams together on Thursday evening in the second leg of the UEFA Europa League final qualifying round.
Ferencváros entered today's match benefiting from their away victory, having beaten Trabzonspor 1-0 in the first leg at Papara Park last week.
The events of today's match, held at Groupama Arena in Hungary, were of good quality, with Ferencváros controlling most of the proceedings while the Turkish team's players appeared lackluster.
A red card and a goal
Trabzonspor suffered a major blow early in the match when the referee showed a red card to Ruslan Malinovskyi in the 13th minute following a strong challenge on one of Ferencváros' players in midfield.
Ferencváros capitalized on their numerical advantage, scoring the first goal through Irish player Callum O'Dowda in the 19th minute, ending the first half with a 1-0 lead.
A second-half hat-trick
Trabzonspor collapsed in the second half as Ferencváros scored their second goal through Romanian star Marius Corbu in the 53rd minute with a powerful shot that found the back of goalkeeper André Onana's net.
In the 57th minute, Trabzonspor star López Cabral received a second yellow card followed by a red card after a penalty was awarded to the home side, which player Dely converted.
In the 63rd minute, Fatih Tekke, Trabzonspor's head coach, made a substitution bringing off Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, replaced by Ozan Tufan, as his team continued the match with only nine players.
Hungarian player Kristian Liszts succeeded in scoring Ferencváros' fourth goal with a powerful shot in the 85th minute, concluding the encounter while Salah watched from the bench.
With this result, Hungarian club Ferencváros qualified for the league stage of the UEFA Europa League, while Trabzonspor officially exited the competition.
