Monaco appointed the Brazilian coach to lead the team next season until 2028.
Felipe Luis said at the press conference introducing him as the team's new coach: "I chose Monaco despite the offers I received, because the French league, in my view, is among the top three leagues in the world".
He continued, "The level of the French league is amazing; there is tremendous physical quality, great intensity in matches, distinctive playing ideas, as well as tactical development. It is a very attractive league."
He added, "I came to Monaco with great ambition, and the good relationship I had with sporting director Tiago Skoro was one of the important reasons behind my decision."
He revealed, "I like attacking play and ball possession; this is the style I believe in, and my goal is to instill a competitive mentality within the team, as the ability to compete and achieve victories is fundamental."
He continued, "You can attack a lot, but if you concede many goals, that won't be good."
He concluded, "I always say that attack makes you win matches, but defense is what makes you win titles."
Monaco finished last season in seventh place after the team's results declined in the final rounds, prompting the administration to sign a new coach to lead the team.
