Cesc Fabregas, Como's manager, admitted that he did not know there was a football club in the city of Como before joining it as a player.
The Spanish coach said during the Sport Festival in Trento: "I used to go to the city of Como often with my family and I didn't know there was a football team."
He added, "After my contract with Monaco ended, Como spoke to me and explained the project. I made my decision from the heart because I had visited the city many times with my wife before."
He continued, "Now celebrities are asking for tickets to watch matches from the stadium, which means we are on the right path."
He went on, "The club president focused on tourism and marketing, and for there to be more tourism, it was necessary to offer attacking football, because the more beautiful it is, the more fans want to watch it."
He added, "Lucas Da Cunha's call-up to the France national team is thanks to his unbelievable mentality and desire. I used to say that I wanted players who have the desire and hunger to join Real Madrid and Barcelona."
He concluded, "I prefer the player who has less talent but has the desire and hunger and wants to build an amazing career, rather than the player who has already built his career and earned enough money."
Fabregas led his team to promotion to Serie A, then staying up, and subsequently qualifying for the Champions League for the first time in the club's history.
Como had never played in any European competition before.
They won their first match in the tournament against Leipzig 4-1.
Como currently occupies eighth place in the Serie A standings with 10 points, level with Juventus and Frosinone.
