Foreign press reports revealed that Pitso Mosimane, the head coach of the South African national team, intends to make several changes to his squad lineup for the match against Egypt.
The South African national team will face their counterpart, Egypt, at 9:00 PM next Sunday at Cairo Stadium in a friendly match, with which both teams will conclude their ongoing training camps.
South African newspaper Soccer Laduma reported that the match against Egypt represents a golden opportunity for Pitso Mosimane to test the depth of the options available to him, particularly in the goalkeeper position.
The report indicated that the match between Egypt and South Africa will feature a completely different starting lineup for Bafana Bafana, as prominent players such as Teboho Mokoena, Aubrey Modiba, and Bathusi Aubaas are expected not to participate.
Ronwen Williams has solidified his status as the goalkeeper for the South African national team under former coach Hugo Broos, and Mosimane also appears fully satisfied with his continued presence in this role.
Mosimane included Sifiso Chaine, Orlando Pirates' goalkeeper, along with Ricardo Goss and Ronwen Williams, the duo from Mamelodi Sundowns, in the expanded 30-player list for participation in the current camp, which concludes with a friendly match against Egypt.
The newspaper added: "There are valid reasons supporting Mosimane's decision to field Chaine as South Africa's goalkeeper against Egypt, most notably that the encounter is a friendly and does not carry significant competitive pressure."
Soccer Laduma concluded: "Williams also needs rest, especially since his team, Sundowns, is about to play the final of the South African Cup on October 10, in addition to having started in the previous two matches against Guinea and Eritrea."
Pitso Mosimane began his tenure in the new term with the South African national team by defeating Guinea 2-1, followed by a 5-0 victory over Eritrea.
